Mission and Vision

The Mission of Divine Action is to inspire and facilitate Black self-sufficiency through initiatives focusing on individual and communal economic prosperity, Black-centered education, physical and mental health, effective self-defense, and youth development.

Through these efforts and collective action, we believe that we can achieve true liberation across the African Diaspora.


Board of Directors

Gerald Huggins II

Gerald is a native of Brooklyn, NY. He is an alumnus of Virginia Union University and Clark Atlanta University. He earned his Bachelors of Arts in Communications with a focus in sports and a Masters of Arts in African American Studies with a focus in Rebellion, Sports, and Activism. He is a security consultant, free lance writer and an educator in his hometown of NYC.

Nicole Parrott-Wilson

Nicole is a Chicago native and an alumna of Northern Illinois University, where she earned a bachelors degree in Communications and masters in both Business Administration and Sports Management. 
Though her professional background has been across various communications roles for the NBA, collegiate sports, and several major brands, her true passion lies in the fight for Black liberation. An avid reader, researcher, and learner, Nicole believes that without in-depth historical context, we cannot fully understand or dismantle the issues/systems we face.

Marlaina James

Laina is a fierce flame of flair with a passion for servicing her community. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Laina moved to Brooklyn with a dollar and a dream to challenge social standards that keep disenfranchised communities underprivileged. She is a graduate of Brooklyn College, recently earning her degree in Nutritional Sciences. Laina is enthusiastic about dismantling health disparities of the Black community, proper childhood education, and eating good food. Through her strong willingness & love for Black folks, Laina is determined to contribute all she can for the overall advancement of our people.

Khalil Ferguson

Khalil is an alumnus of CSU – Sacramento where he earned bachelors degrees in International Relations and Economics. His studies have focused on how New Market Tax Credit’s and Opportunity Zones affects economically sensitive populations.  Currently sitting on the Measure U Committee for the City of Sacramento Khalil focuses on strategies for inclusive economic development. Specializing in budget analysis and fiscal policy analysis, Khalil analyzes the impacts of economic policies on communities who sit on the margin of economic calculation while also ensuring they are included in development opportunities.

Kayy Burton

Kathryne “Kayy” Burton is a graduate of Elizabeth City State University where she became a Fall 15 initiate of the Delta Chi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Kayy received her Bachelors of Science in Computer Science in May 2018 and is currently studying for her Master’s of Cybersecurity at Norfolk State University. Originally from Prince Georges County MD, Kayy currently resides in the Dallas/Fort Worth area where she participates in many events encouraging young black women to pursue STEM Related Careers.

Ryan Daye

Ryan is a committed advocate of freedom, justice, equality and the pursuit of happiness with out being uncivilized. He believes it is the responsibility of the of the BLGO to give our youth and community a proper education that is fashioned to enable them to be self sufficient as a people. 
Ryan is currently a middle school and high school educator that specializes Personal Behavior Interventions and Supports. He attended Elizabeth City State University, and is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. 
The ultimate goal is to achieve peace in ourself, in our communities, in our nation, and in the world.

Bree Mercer

Brianna (Bree) is an alumna of The University of Tampa where she earned her B.S. in Criminology. She is currently back at the University of Tampa pursuing her Masters in Criminology all while working as a legal assistant at a Fortune 500 company in the Tampa Bay Area. At the completion of her Masters in the Spring of 2021, she will continue on to pursue a PHD in Public Policy and Administration. It is with this PHD that she will work with researchers and policy analysts to create laws and policies that will not only enhance the community but educate as well.
